My name is Yared Gebru. I’m a first-generation Ethiopian-American creative. I was raised in West Oakland, in a home that can only be described as Little Tigray, a decades-long project where my mother strives to cultivate a space similar to her upbringing in Axum, Tigray.I love discovering new sounds, flavors (from my mother’s homeland and beyond), and words (I’m a copywriter). I’m passionate about growing my creative superpowers IRL and URL. My creative superpowers have led me to assist musicians, discover and refine their brand, and build release and content strategies. My love for brand building led me to apply to the One School.
Here you’ll find explorations during my time at the One School, where we were tasked with coming up with concepts against different advertising mediums. Hopefully, you’ll learn what makes me...me. Thank you so much for treating my ideas with care. I'll be sure to do the same.
I was hired as a junior copywriter in July 2024 at Spring, TurboTax’s in-house agency. I graduated from the One School in August 2024. This is the beginning of my journey.
